Custom Design services

  • Space planning and layouts: It is our purview to design furniture layouts early on in the project. If there is an architect on a project, we collaborate on design and layouts to ensure the furnishings and window treatments are integrated into the overall design of the space.   
  • Budgeting: We understand the importance of working within the project budget. We are strategic in our approach to budget adherence to achieve the style and look desired within budget. We may suggest strategic alternatives to materials, fabrics and furnishings or phase the project to make costs more manageable. 
  • Drafting: Our design team is capable of providing custom-drafted floor plans and elevations to clearly communicate our design to contractors, architects, or craftsman. Not every design firm is equipped with this capability and it is essential to ensuring the team understands the design. 3D renderings can be provided upon request.
  • Custom cabinetry: Our experienced designers are skilled in designing custom cabinetry for your kitchen, bathroom, home theater, and beyond.
  • Purchasing: We offer our clients insider access to “trade-only” resources, showrooms, and materials. We process all orders for furniture, rugs, art, window treatments and accessories ensuring that everything is ordered properly. 
  • Design for New Construction: When building a new custom residence, our team will assist you with design selections from custom millwork to tile selection to furnishings. We make selections early on in the project to stay ahead of deadlines. Following the selection process, we will provide you and your builder with written specifications that clearly communicate every detail. We stand firm in our belief that effective communication reduces errors, omissions, delays, and added costs.
  • Outdoor Design: In Southern California, bringing exceptional design to the outdoors is just as important as what’s going on within. We create extraordinary outdoor rooms, entertaining spaces as well as recreational areas. With a focus on fusing beautiful design and high-performance materials, appliances and finishes, Nicole Michael Designs works on ground up and remodeled outdoor design for year-round enjoyment.
